The Long Island Business News (LIBN) annual Business & Finance Awards honored esteemed Southampton hotel owner Dede Gotthelf, expanding restauranteur and hotelier Zach Erdem, and multi-restaurant owner Ian Duke on Thursday, September 22nd, 2016. The event took place at the eminent Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY and is an annual event recognizing financial professionals for their outstanding performance on behalf of Long Island’s corporations, government and nonprofit organizations.

The event began with a cocktail hour between 6:00pm and 7:00pm at the venue’s pool terrace. Guests enjoyed cocktails and Hors D’Oeuvres while mingling with fellow honorees and guests in the beautiful summer evening. Following the cocktail reception, a buffet dinner was held upstairs in the grand dining hall, with the awards presentations commencing at 8:00pm. 26 honorees in total were gifted an engraved award by LIBN Publisher, Scott Schoen. Out of the many deserving honorees of the evening, it was evident that Dede Gotthelf, Zach Erdem and Ian Duke had made major contributions to the Southampton community which they serve.

Dede Gotthelf has run the Southampton Inn since 1997, during which time she has transformed the Inn into Southampton’s premier hospitality and event venue. A talented and creative businesswoman, Gotthelf has had an illustrious 40-year career spanning real estate development, financial consulting, and hospitality. Gotthelf’s Southampton Inn offers a family- and pet friendly, romantic, sustainable and idyllic Hampton’s getaway, which attracts countless locals and visitors alike, who come to explore the beautiful nature and culture of the East End year-round.

Zach Erdem of 75 Main Group owns and manages the two restaurants 75 Main and Kozu, lounge Summer House, nightclub AM Southampton and a Hotel ZE in Southampton – making him a major contributor not only to the town’s infrastructure, but also to its food culture and social & entertainment scene. 75 Main Group provides many part- and full time job opportunities, and has become a major hospitality group on New York’s East End.

Ian Duke has long been making a difference in Southampton’s social and culinary scene. Duke opened up brand new Mexican restaurant, Union Cantina, in Southampton’s iconic Bowden Square earlier this year. This popular dining hot spot has seen celebrities such as Brooke Shields, Michael J. Fox and Uma Thurman, who have enjoyed the restaurant’s popular items such as the Deconstructed Enchiladas and Rose Sangria.

After a number of interesting keynote speakers and a delicious dinner, the event closed at 9:30pm.

Zach Erdem is a restauranteur and hotel entrepreneur, and the owner of Southampton classic American restaurant 75 Main, Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant Kozu, nightclub AM Southampton, lounge Summer House and 5-star boutique Hotel ZE. This dynamic 32-year old is originally from Turkey but moved to the US in the early 2000s. He got his first taste of the hospitality industry already at the age of 12/13, while helping out as a dishwasher at a local restaurant.
