Ellen Hermanson Foundation’s Magical Gala Chaired by Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff

BRIDGEHAMPTON – The Hampton’s-based Ellen Hermanson Foundation held it’s annual gala which netted more than $100,000 for the South Hampton Hospital’s new cancer center and its breast center bearing the foundation’s name.  Held at Jean-Georges’ Topping Rose House here, the gala was chaired by Jean Shafiroff.

The Amazing Kreskin was able to recall the 22 cards pulled from from a shuffled 52-card deck after a quick glace of the remaining cards. The guests left amazed by Kreskin’s mentalist feasts, satisfied with a sumptuous meal and fulfilled as auctioneer Nicolas Dawes, an expert on PBS’ Antiques Road Show, auctioned himself off … twice, and coaxed five figure gifts for each of six special chemotherapy chairs for the cancer center.

The East Hampton Chamber of Commerce was a presenting partner with the foundation.

About The Ellen Hermanson Foundation

The Ellen Hermanson Foundation was established in 1997 by Julie Ratner to honor the memory of Ellen Hermanson and carry on the important work to which she devoted so much of her time and energy. An activist and an advocate, Ellen channeled her journalistic talents to become a forceful voice for breast cancer patients and their families. She educated her readers about the importance of early detection, the challenges of living with breast cancer, the very real but little-discussed or understood issue of pain management, and the debilitating effects of breast cancer on the entire family.

The Ellen Hermanson Foundation is unique in its commitment to helping breast cancer patients and their families cope with the physical and emotional aspects of breast cancer. No patient is turned away from the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center for lack of insurance or inability to pay for treatment. All services though Ellen’s Well are provided free of charge.
