The event started with a warm welcome by Andrea Stark who thanked supporters of The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, adding that it is time to end cancer once for all. Mrs. Stark pointed out that Collaborating for a Cure means researchers working together to find new therapies for cancer patients and someday find cures – mentioning the success of a breakthrough treatment developed by SWCRF Founder and CEO Samuel Waxman, M.D., with researchers from Shanghai for APL, a form of leukemia, which resulted in a 95 percent cure rate for the disease.

Next, Marion Waxman expressed her appreciation to all participants’, organizers, and supporters of the event. During her speech, Mrs. Waxman highlighted that every dollar raised for The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation goes to research to save lives of people who are dealing with cancer. The next speaker, newly appointed SWCRF Executive Director William T. Sullivan, proudly proclaimed that since it was established, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation has raised over 90 million dollars for researchers worldwide.

Before the fashion show started, Pamela Morgan and Lauren Lawrence emphasized the importance of the event that marked its fourth year of Collaborating for a Cure through raising funds and awareness for SWCRF, each year with more success. Ms. Morgan asked guests to save August 5th for the 2017 A Hamptons Happening, which will honor Glenn Myles, Chairman and CEO of First Wall Street Capital, and other honorees to be announced shortly. The Carolina Herrera fashion show presented the fashion house’s elegant pre-fall collection as models walked down a dramatic staircase and mingled among seated guests.

“Every year, this by-invitation-only and sold-out event has grown in support, doubling in attendance since it debuted in 2014,” said Dr. Samuel Waxman, Founder and CEO of SWCRF.  “The Waxman Foundation was founded as a result of the generosity of the fashion industry and it continues to support us with the likes of industry leaders such as Carolina Herrera. We are most grateful to Carolina Herrera for their participation this year.”

The elegant luncheon was catered by David Burke at Bloomingdales. Prosecco and white wine were donated by Palm Bay International, HFactor was serving the first-of-its-kind hydrogen-infused water, and MarieBelle provided guests delicious chocolate desserts.
